Description

MailSift is a SaaS application designed to take back control of an inbox overrun by newsletters, by connecting one or more email accounts to automatically detect subscriptions and unsubscribe from them effortlessly. Account connection relies on OAuth2 authentication with Google (secure PKCE flow) or an app password for other providers, so users never have to hand over their main password to the application, and their credentials are then encrypted in the database (AES-256-GCM). Newsletter detection analyzes the technical headers of emails (List-Unsubscribe, sending frequency, sender) while carefully excluding transactional, security and billing messages to limit false positives. Unsubscribing follows a principle of transparency: it never claims that an unsubscription is confirmed based solely on a server response, distinguishing between automatic one-click requests (RFC 8058), links to open manually and unsubscribe emails prepared in the user's mail client. An anti-fraud feature also lets users check a suspicious email using a deterministic heuristic engine (about thirty checks: SPF/DKIM/DMARC authentication, lookalike domains, deceptive links, risky attachments) complemented by an optional AI verdict, helping users spot phishing attempts directly from the interface. For this, a self-hosted LLM is used, given a precise instruction to produce a more personalized analysis of the email in question. Of course, no data sent to the LLM is stored: everything is deleted once the response has been sent back to the client.
